The Songwriting 101 digital resource provides a visually engaging and interactive platform for students to engage with the material. It features video, audio, and image examples to make learning fun and effective!

If you’re interested in songwriting, the Songwriting 101 digital resource is the perfect place to start. This digital resource uses interactive elements, video and audio examples to guide you through the different parts of a song and their roles in creating and enhancing your songs narrative. Find out about the chorus, the verse, and the bridge (and so much more!) - and how they fit together to create a great song.

Teacher/Student Resources

The Songwriting 101 resource offers a range of teaching resources and songwriting tools to help you achieve your classroom goals. The lessons and resources are always being updated and expanded and are designed to help you adapt the songwriting process into your lesson plans. Rhyming Dictionaries, song prompts, title prompts, curated songwriting links, templates and sample lesson plans are all found in this ever evolving and developing online platform.

In Development

What am I working on now to grow this platform? Well, I would love to see it take on an interactive element for collaborative songwriting, brainstorming, gamification of learning elements...the list goes on. First, I need to finish up some of the resource sections and ensure the first phase of development is wrapped up. Then, we dive into creative ways to support teachers in demonstrating and delivering this content. Academic Reflection on the Songwriting Digital Resource

Creating the Songwriting 101 resource has been an incredible journey and has only just begun. It started as an assignment for my EDPB 530: Educational Technology class and has allowed me to reflect on my own experience as a songwriter as I journey towards becoming a certified teacher. Description of Digital Learning Resource (DLR)

The Digital Learning Resource I developed provides an interactive digital resource for teachers to use in class to teach the art of songwriting regardless of how much experience they (teachers or students) have with writing songs. In its current form, the resource provides a consolidation of knowledge on the subject of lyric writing and provides resources and templates that can be used in the classroom to guide the process. Everything from interactive parts of a song and song form explanations with real-world examples, song subjects and title prompts to rhyming dictionaries and more are included.
